Three students died and eight teens were shot Friday night in Michigan after an argument escalated, according to police.
The shooting took place on Oxford High School’s campus, around 8:45 p.m., just across the street from a high school that was being closed for the day. Eight teens were injured and taken to area hospitals; one girl suffered a gunshot wound to her leg and was listed in stable condition Saturday morning, police said.
It is unclear whether any of the three students will be charged with anything or if they may face additional charges later in the investigation, including battery on a public official against a public employee and felony assault on a law officer under 18 years old. The 8 other teens who were injured are expected to survive their injuries, police said.

Police were called to the scene shortly after 5 p.m., and two people were taken into custody for possible weapons possession. Police are still investigating, but no arrests have been made as of Saturday night. Police said they believe alcohol may be a factor in the shooting.
Police say they will be asking members of the community to help them find the youths involved. The area is set up to make sure they can access a school bus and at least one other vehicle.
WTVD in Oxford reported that several people were trying to flag down a school bus that had just arrived. Police said it’s too early to tell what led up to the shooting, but officers are still investigating.
“We are still investigating this case. We have a lot of evidence that we want to get to the people involved,” said by an officer in charge.
Officer said no one was injured by the shooting, and there is no threat to public safety, but he did say an investigation is ongoing so it would be best for anyone who might live nearby not to come near the scene and contact police if they see anything suspicious.
In addition to the injuries, police said one victim is in a medically induced coma. Police are still investigating at this time.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those injured,” said Oxford Schools Superintendent. “We are very grateful for the quick response from our law enforcement partners and community leaders and we appreciate their swift action to prevent further harm. Our thoughts go out to all of those who have been injured by this unfortunate incident.”
Oxford Schools closed the school for 10 minutes Wednesday.
“I can tell you it’s a very sad day,” said Oxford High School Principal. “This is not something that we want to happen in our schools; it’s not something we have ever had in the past. We are here to serve our community and for us to believe that there will be no more problems at this school.”
Teachers and parents of students at nearby high schools were notified about the shooting around 5:30 p.m., and they left their children home from school immediately, according to Kenton Police Chief.
“I visited the home and I couldn’t believe what I saw,” said Police Officer. “It was just so scary. It was a lot of trauma that we didn’t know what to do with, but we can only hope the children will be better by tomorrow morning.”
