Dyami Brown attended West Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, North Carolina.
At the start of his first training camp in the NFL, Brown was expected to start alongside Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel. Despite this, he had to compete with Adam Humphries, DeAndre Carter, and Cam Sims for the position. As a result of Samuel being placed on injured reserve at the end of the NFL preseason, head coach Ron Rivera named Brown as one of the starting wide receivers along with McLaurin and Humphries. Washington Football Team loss to Los Angeles Chargers marked Brown’s first career start and NFL debut.
In that game, he played 93% of the offensive snaps, recording 1 reception for -2 yards on 4 targets. In the following week’s game against the New York Giants, Brown caught 3 passes for 34 yards on 87% of the offensive snaps. The Washington Football Team won the game 30-29. In his sophomore year, he had 51 receptions for 1,034 yards, leading the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in receiving yards per reception at 20.3 and tying the school record with 12 touchdown receptions. A loss to the Virginia Cavaliers earned him the ACC Receiver of the Week award after he caught six passes for 202 yards and three touchdowns. After six receptions and 150 yards against NC State, he was named receiver of the week again.
The Associated Press named Brown third-team All-American in 2020 after he had another 1,000 yard season with eight touchdowns. In addition, he was the first FBS player since 2000 to average at least 20 yards per catch in consecutive seasons. He chose not to participate in the 2021 Orange Bowl in order to prepare for the 2021 NFL Draft. At North Carolina, he played wide receiver alongside his younger brother Khafre. The Washington Football Team selected Brown in the third round (82nd overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft. He signed his four-year rookie contract on May 13, 2021.
